Roe v. Wade
After the overturn of Roe V. Wade, which in 1973 ruled that the Constitution of the United States protected women’s right to an abortion, several users took to social media to express their indignation. Users turned to share their personal abortion stories that emphasize the need for them to be legal.
Many claim that by overturning Roe V Wade the court is not getting rid of abortions but instead is getting rid of safe ones. This is concerning as in 2020 there were 930,160 abortions in the U.S. (Totenberg and McCammon 2022). This continues to be a hot topic as the court stands by its decision and figures like Kamala Harris take official stances. Kamala has explicitly blamed former President Donald Trump for this overturn.

This topic was quite saddening when I first heard the outcome as a woman. Acknowledging the privilege as a woman today, to be able to obtain an abortion is essential, as it has associated costs and mental health awareness. This alters the trajectory of many women's life, some of whom did not even do the act at the expense of their own will (rape, incest, etc). Publishing these stories brings light to the acknowledgement of the issue.
