#FakeNews

The term “fake news” has been extremely popular in the last couple of years and many credit former President Donald Trump for its popularity. Trump used his Twitter with the #FakeNews to bring awareness and warn citizens against the dangers of inaccurate news stories about him. Back in 2017, there was a case where CNN did report an inaccurate story and had to take accountability, which fueled Trump’s claims that the media had its own agenda.

Although there are some cases of false stories, many argue that Trump has started this trend to his advantage and call any news story that he doesn’t agree with as “fake news”. The topic continues trending with some people using it to warn against real misinformation while others for their advantage and what they deem as “fake”. It is more important than ever for voters to do their research on several media platforms to avoid getting caught up in this “fake news” trend.

  1. I agree, fake news has made its rounds around social media so much to the point where apps like Facebook have regulations in place to make sure that it doesn't continue on their platform. Some voters have fallen victims to the gullible posts of fake news. That's why I am glad that apps like X(formerly known as Twitter) and Facebook have came together to help regulate the terms "to avoid getting caught up in this “fake news” trend." as you mentioned.
